Anyone selling a KYB, AML, sales, or compliance product into the Nordics has to decide where the underlying Norwegian data layer comes from. We benchmark Nordic Data against the seven realistic alternatives on freshness, completeness, shareholder-graph depth, sanctions, pricing, and developer ergonomics.
Where we are not the best choice, we say so. The point of this page is so you can make a defensible procurement decision, not a marketing pitch.

This benchmark is genuinely useful only if we tell you when we are the wrong fit. The five cases we send buyers elsewhere:
Five things no other vendor on this list does at the same time and at the same price point.
One endpoint returns all three. Every other vendor either caches Brønnøysund or skips procurement entirely.
28 tools in Smithery. Plug into Claude Desktop or Cursor in 30 seconds. No other Norwegian data vendor ships an MCP layer.
Four-layer pipeline lifts contact fill from 23% to 81% on the top 5,000 Norwegian companies. Detail in our engineering blog.
€0–€499/mo with public tiers vs four to six-figure enterprise contracts at BvD, Bisnode, and Strise.
Most Norwegian-data buyers are still booking demos. We hand out 5,000 free requests per month and an API key on signup.
A short, fair summary of each company, what they are good at, and which buyer they fit best.
Every Norwegian company, joined to procurement, sanctions, and EU R&D grants on the org number. Free tier with no card. Best for Norwegian SaaS doing KYB onboarding, foreign companies expanding into Norway, AI agent builders, and KYB platforms needing real-time Norway coverage.
Public-interest project. 200+ million companies across 130+ countries. Best for cross-border research and academic / journalistic use. Norwegian data is correct but cached and shallow on shareholders.
The industry standard for cross-border KYB and credit research at large banks. 489M companies, 20+ years of history. Enterprise procurement, four to six-figure contracts, no self-serve.
Decades of Norwegian credit data, payment history, and credit scoring. Best for credit decisions and customer risk monitoring. Sales-led, no published prices.
The free public-facing Norwegian company directory. Brønnøysund-fed, ad-supported. Best for one-off human lookups, not for API-driven products.
Finished AML workflow with UI, used by Danske Bank, Fremtind, PwC Norway, Formue. Best for compliance teams that want a turnkey product. We are the right buy if you are building the UI yourself; Strise is the right buy if you want to deploy one.
End-to-end identity and business verification platform. Best for SaaS doing identity verification at scale. Their KYB layer relies on sub-providers; Nordic Data is a candidate to supply the Norwegian data feed.
Sources. Vendor websites and published documentation as of May 2026. Sumsub's underlying KYB data architecture is referenced from their public developer documentation. Strise customer references are from their published case studies. Where a vendor offers a feature only via a separately-priced product line, we mark it "partial" with a note.
Definitions. "Real-time" means latency from authoritative source (Brønnøysund's official feed) to API response is under 5 minutes. "Cached" means scheduled refresh on a schedule longer than one hour. "Joined on org number" means the relationship is queryable in a single API call without external joins.
Bias disclosure. This page is published by Nordic Data. We have made a sincere effort to be fair, including listing five categories where we are not the best choice. If you find a factual error, email support@nordicdata.cloud and we will correct it on this page and email you when it's done. We keep a public changelog of corrections at the bottom of this section once any are filed.
Corrections log. No corrections filed yet. Future entries will appear here with date and reporter.
